On Saturday, November 14th at 2pm, the Toadstool Bookshops in Keene, Peterborough, and Nashua will host author Cynthia Hudson presenting her new children’s book The Lemonade Stand in a free online event via Zoom.
When one of their friends goes through a difficult loss, the neighborhood gang rallies around their family to help. Michelle’s father, while on active duty in Afghanistan, is killed, and she and her mother are struggling. The gang decide they’re going to have a lemonade stand and book sale to raise some funds to help them out. The kids make lemonade, pull books from their homes, and decorate their neighborhood with signs advertising the lemonade stand and book sale. The whole neighborhood comes together for their friend in need.
Cynthia Hudson has been a publisher in the magazine industry for eight years. When her publisher first approached her and asked her to try her hand at writing a children’s book, Cynthia wasn’t sure if it would make sense--she had no children and she’d never tried to do such a thing before. Cynthia went on to write three books, with two more in the works. She’s truly found her child's voice to create and to make these stories come alive.
