POETRY READING with DEBORAH BROWN, KATE GLEASON, WENDY KEITH, TINA RAPP, and STACIA TOLMAN. Celebrate National Poetry Month as these local, published poets read from their work.

Deborah Brown’s new book, The Human Half is forthcoming from BOA Editions in the spring, 2019. Her first book “Walking the Dog’s Shadow,” was a winner of the A. J. Poulin Jr. Award from BOA Editions and of a New Hampshire Literary Award for Outstanding Book of Poetry. The title poem of the collection was awarded a Pushcart Prize. She edited, with Maxine Kumin and Annie Finch, Lofty Dogmas: Poets on Poetics (Univ. of Arkansas Press). With Richard Jackson and Susan Thomas, she translated the poems in Last Voyage: Selected Poems of Giovanni Pascoli (Red Hen Press). She  was a Professor of English at UNH in Manchester and lives in Warner, NH.

Kate Gleason is the author of two poetry books, Laika in Space (forthcoming, Main Street Rag) and Measuring the Dark (Zone 3 Press, 1st Book Award). Her work has appeared in Verse Daily, Best American Poetry, The Southern Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Rattle, Crab Orchard Review, Notre Dame Review, Green Mountains Review, and elsewhere. She has received writing fellowships from the NEA, the Vermont Studio Center, and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

 

Wendy Keith is a singer songwriter, mother and grandmother and has lived most of her life in the Monadnock Region of NH. She has poetry and essay published in the Monadnock Writers Group publication, The Mud Chronicles, has three CD recordings and is working on a novel.

 

Tina Rapp is a writer and editor whose work has appeared in such venues as The Wall Street Journal, New Hampshire Public Radio, Post magazine, Adanna, Willow Review (Poetry Award 2015), Concrete Wolf, Yankee Magazine booksand Ad Hoc Monadnock. She’s served as managing editor of Shadow and Light—A Literary Anthology on Memory and online editor of Smoky Quartz.

 

Stacia Tolman is a writer, teacher, poet, and novelist whose roots run deep in the woods of New Hampshire. Her YA novel The Spaces Between Us is being released July 2019 from Henry Holt. She also writes about chickens.
