The Loom Poetry Series is a Harrisville-based initiative to highlight and celebrate the best in contemporary poetry. They will be presenting two contemporary poets, Chen Chen with When I Grow Up I Want to be a List of Further Possibilities, and Jennifer Militello with A Camouflage of Specimens and Garments.
Jennifer Militello’s A Camouflage of Specimens and Garments is her third full-length collection with fragmentary letters addressing illness and struggle, interspersed with the voices of mythological heroes and long-dead composers, ancient goddesses, and murdered girls. Chen Chen’s debut When I Grow Up I Want to be a List of Further Possibilities interrogates the fragile, inherited ways of approaching love and family from Asian American, immigrant, and queer perspectives. The authors will be presenting excerpts of these and other works and will answer questions from participants during this live Zoom event. This event will be moderated by local poet Rebecca Kaiser Gibson, author of Opinel and the forthcoming collection Girl as Birch, which will be released in spring of 2021.
