Cider Monday? Incider enthusiasts are preparing for the sixth annual celebration of Cider Monday on December 2nd. Cider Monday is a direct and delicious assault on the Monday after Thanksgiving known as the infamous Cyber Monday. Participating local stores will offer shoppers a warm welcome and a cup of delicious cider. Referred to in the media as Cyber Monday, much news is made of the gigantic surge in online Christmas spending that begins that day. However incider traders are already warning of drastic declines in online purchases due to Cider Monday as people abandon the virtual world of their computers and smart phones for the smarter still experience of a trip into the real world.
Grateful shoppers will be flocking to local stores to partake of a cup of cider made (of course) from squished micro soft apple products. With the goal of reclaiming the apple and converting a huge river of cyber purchases into a pure and steady stream of tasty cider one cup at a time, Cider Monday began with a splash and a few spills among independent stores in New England.
Locally owned stores everywhere are encouraged to join in. It’s simple, be in your store that Monday to greet everyone with some cider and a heartfelt thanks for shopping locally. Last year several communities got involved in a town wide celebration and promoted shop hopping cider fans to sample the ciders at the various independents in town.
Shoppers are promised cider, smiling servers that will not crash, personal service and advice, the opportunity to touch and try before adding to their cart (err… armful), no logins or passwords required, payment in cash if desired, and always free freight. Simply take your purchases home with you, no extra charge.
And Cider Monday, already in stores from New England to Illinois, went international. Several shops, led by Coho Books, in the town of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, British Columbia joined the effort last year to take a bite out of Cyber Monday.
Shoppers everywhere are encouraged to take a bite and wash it down with a cup of cider knowing that they are helping to grow the local economy.
Join us on Cider Monday December 2nd as we take a bite out of Cyber Monday.
