KEENE - Mimi Bull Presents Celibacy - A Love Story

Mimi Bull was born in the 1930s believing she had been adopted by two women, a mother and daughter. It wasn’t until she had her own children that she learned her adoptive parents were actually blood relatives––her grandmother and mother, and it wasn’t for over another decade that she would finally discover her father was the Catholic priest who she had known all her life as a close family friend.
Bull writes lovingly of her parents and the effort it took to protect this secret, but she also shares her pain, with many years spent trying to find a sense of belonging and others who shared her story.
Mimi’s story was first featured in the Globe in 2017 with other children of priests who are coming forward in the aftermath of the Globe Spotlight series on children of priests and the pain these cover-ups and secrets have caused.
