This poetry anthology, with 48 poems from poets throughout New England and from other states – is a result of Peterborough Poetry Project’s second poetry contest. We invited poets, writers, and observers to submit up to three poems about New Hampshire – past, present, future, or fantasy.
The poems are in three different sections by themes: People, Places, and The Wild, but readers may find that several poems have more than one theme. A poem may appear to be about nature, but also our reactions to it. Another poem may appear to be true, but might be pure fantasy.
This is the nature of poetry: read it for the obvious, then read it again to see if more reveals itself. See our website: peterboroughpoetryproject.org for how to order and more information about our array of activities.
Peterborough Poetry Project was created in January 2019 to support and promote education and literacy in general with an emphasis on poetry. Our aim is to promote poetry in Peterborough, NH and beyond. Our mission is to promote writing, reading, and thinking of poetry as part of everyday life. Writing poems is a way to have fun while sharing observations and insights with other people or just saving your poems to ponder later. By publishing books of poetry and sponsoring public events such as book fairs, poetry readings, and poetry contests, we continue to encourage the understanding and appreciation of poetry.

“Just finished reading On and Off the Road...such wonderful poetry touching me about that granite land....a place I hold so close!” ~ Carol Amato, poet from Massachusetts
"An engagingly specific and delightfully universal collection of poems about The Granite State. Anyone with some connection to New Hampshire or New England will enjoy this anthology."
~ Stephan Delbos, Poet Laureate of Plymouth, MA
