On Saturday, November 21st at 10 am the Toadstool Bookshops in Keene, Peterborough, and Nashua will host artist Kim Cunningham to celebrate the release of her new book Block Paper Chisels: Prints from New Hampshire's Monadnock Region with an art demonstration and discussion in a free online event via Zoom.
Block, Paper, Chisels: Prints From New Hampshire’s Monandnock Region is a colorful collection of over seventy prints created by artist Kim Cunningham throughout her four decades in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. This wide-ranging exploration of the block print medium includes everything from images of familiar landscapes and local wildlife to more abstract collages celebrating the beauty of trees. Background information on Kim’s influences and technique are included in the book, and her haiku poems accompany two series of prints. This event for the art lover will include a presentation and demonstration of Kim’s technique and a discussion with the artist herself.
Kim Cunningham worked primarily as a graphic artist and illustrator for companies such as Brookstone, Eastern Mountain Sports, Monadnock Paper Mill, and Cobblestone Magazine. Now a full-time printmaker and sculptor, she has exhibited throughout New England and her work appears frequently in the Monadnock Region on calendars, posters and logos. She and her husband, the sculptor Scott Cunningham, live in Hancock.
