Peterborough - poetry reading with four local poets

06/30/2012 11:00 am

POETRY READING with Kate Gleason, Susan Murata, Stephanie Minteer and Martha Deborah Hall.

The readers are all members of Kate Gleason's Writing from Your Inner Voice workshops.  Kate has been leading these writing groups for 16 years, and Susan Murata has been hosting the Wednesday group for over 10 years. The workshops are modeled after the Amherst Writers & Artists method that encourages writers to dive deep into their voices and fosters group support. The method was developed by Pat Schneider, author of Writing Alone and With Others. Kate studied with Pat in Amherst, Mass, for 7 years and feels honored to be passing on some of Pat's magic to others.

Kate Gleason is the author of a full-length collection of poetry, Measuring the Dark (selected by Phillis Levin as the winner of the First Book Award at Zone 3 Press), and two chapbooks of poetry.

Martha Deborah Hall’s poems appear in numerous national journals and she has several published books including Inside Out: Poems from The Lives Of Five Accomplished Women, Two Grains In Time, and The Garbo Reels

Stephanie Pepelnjak Minteer is retired from a career as a public children's librarian. She has been writing with Kate Gleason's group for 6 years and presents here for the first time some characters from "365 Minnesota Days".

Susan Murata, a lover of nature, words, history and how things fit together, has honed her observation skills - producing condensed poetry and lyric prose.  She has been published in Illya's Honey, Tiny Words, Wild Minds and The Stillpoint Forum and hosts the weekly writing group at her home in Marlborough
