Join us in welcoming Patricia H. Frederick as she reads and signs her poetry collection, IV: What! Four?
One year Patricia assembled a book of her poetry titled “Verbal Snapshots”. This was followed by a reprinting of this booklet as well as three others entitled “Observations and Recollections”, “A Third Helping”, and now “IV: What! Four?” which have all been fundraisers for the Historical Piano Study Center, a nonprofit musical resource administered by Patricia and her husband.
A Music Education major at Boston University, Patricia H. Frederick taught grade school vocal and general music, first in Boston, and later for five years at St. Joseph Catholic Parochial School in Keene; she also taught “Fundamentals of Music” for three years at Keene State College.
Some of Patricia’s poetry writing was for a project she developed while teaching elementary school music: pupils were invited to bring in children’s songs from their parents’ and grandparents’ native countries. She translated the words of these songs into idiomatic English verse, fitted to the tunes, and expressing the same meanings as the originals.
