– retired veterinarian BRADFORD BROWN signing and discussing his memoirs of doctoring animals on the farms of Maine: WHILE YOU’RE HERE DOC and JUST ONE MORE THING DOC  Veterinarian Brad Brown never knew what to expect when he was called out to a farm to deal with a sick cow or an injured horse. Invariably the cash-strapped farmer would say, "While you're here, Doc" and rattle off a list of surprise medical chores that weren't part of the original call. But whether he was trying to geld a spooked stallion in a blizzard or found himself in the middle of an all-out fracas involving a monkey-s abscessed tooth and a shotgun, Dr. Brown took it in stride, with great affection for his four-legged patients as well as his two-legged clients.
Start: 2:00 pm
End: 4:00 pm
Local author K Spirito returns (with oatmeal scotchies I hope!) to sign and discuss her new installment in the La Rosa Chronicles. "Summer and August: A Cape Cod Murder Mystery" follows Dr. Curt Shirlington filling in as temporary medical examiner/coroner in Chatham. "If you want a peek behind the idyllic setting of summer on Cape Cod to a place filled with secrets, deception, and a dead body or two, read "S&A", a saga of genealogical consequence and intrigue." - Debra Horan, owner of Booklover's Gourmet, Webster, MA (Snowy Day, $16.95 pap)
